29!

Birthday card from Mommy

My 29th birthday weekend was fantastic! Thanks to all my family and friends who helped me celebrate, near and far, and who sent warm wishes my way! My weekend was filled with all of my favorite things, from wine to cake to friends to egg-in-a-frame. Here are some pictures to sum up the weekend. (Yes, I used InstaCollage again).
I couldn’t ask for better friends, better family and a better husband. Thank you, Sean, for not only putting up with, but embracing all of my crazy birthday things, like my new “tradition” of lox and mimosas on my birthday morning. (And classical music playing while we brunched.) And not only did I successfully make cookies over the weekend, I successfully made egg-in-a-frame for myself, Drew and Anna Sunday morning. My mom used to make it for my every birthday growing up, so I decided to relive the tradition. It just involves frying an egg inside a hole in a piece of bread (or in my case, a whole wheat English muffin), but I still count it as success in the kitchen, and every time I cook I am proud of myself!
I started the weekend with Friday night yoga followed by a 5-mile run Saturday morning, and the aforementioned successful cookie baking! (Thank you, Bethany for the vegan recipe).
I want to thank everyone who joined me for cocktails and dinner Saturday at the Ale House, and the waitress who asked if we were celebrating my graduation from college; and to all my friends who joined me at Happy Valley Winery Sunday and brought cheesecake and homemade zucchini bread. J And all of the phone calls and emails. The weekend was truly a celebration and I am so thankful. We all know how I feel about birthdays, and especially going into my 29th is a huge celebration for me: I am healthy, just got 100 percent clean MRIs and we have started the process of adoption. So there really is a lot to celebrate, and celebrate we did! The next few days and weeks will be a continuous whirlwind as we celebrate a Very Jewish Christmas with Melissa and Eric and their beautiful new baby boy, and New Year’s with Duff and Tara. 2013 was awesome, and I know 2014 will be even better. Thanks again, everyone, for the birthday wishes, and a happy and healthy holiday season to everyone. Calendars turning and people getting older are beautiful, beautiful things. It means we have life and life is moving forward. All things grow and develop and prosper, and I am lucky to be a part of that. And I am lucky to have so many phenomenal people in my life who are also a part of that.

Birthday brunch! Bagels, lox, egg-in-a-frame, mimosas and a great game of Catchphrase!

I baked!

Sean's gift to me was the wine we drank in Tuscany, Italy on our honeymoon! It is only shipped to a few locations in the United States.

Tastes like Tuscany!
