All things pretty

Although planning my wedding and taking care of this whole breast cancer "thing" do make up most of my life right now, I wanted to introduce myself on a more personal level. I am, of course, more than these things, although I have to say: I really have immersed myself in the wedding planning because planning is something I love, and planning my wedding has been the most exciting time in my life. So, more about me, besides that I love planning parties and events? I enjoy all things pretty: pearls (as you could have guessed), pink roses, lace and perfume. I love fashion and am constantly reading about it, "researching" it, and shopping, when I can afford to do so. And, upon falling in love with and becoming obsessed with Etsy http://www.etsy.com/people/mstrombe?ref=pr_profile , I have discovered I also love all things pretty and vintage, like vintage-style roses on earrings, vanity trays from the 1920s, old white dressers and mirrors, things like that. If I lived back then I know I would be one of those women who wore a long strand of pearls every day, and a red Chanel lipstick. I would sit at my vanity spraying my perfume. That, to me, is elegance. Though I can't afford Chanel lipstick and I don't exactly have a vanity to sit at with those Hollywood lights that surround the mirror, I do pride myself on my rather extensive perfume collection. I like to switch up my perfumes almost daily, and own anything and everything from lemon and other fruit scents to woody, or romantic, or floral. My Betsey Johnson perfume http://www.betseyjohnson.com/home/index.jsp is my favorite (she's my favorite designer) because it's bold and crazy and super sweet. I also enjoy Vera Wang perfume, Kim Kardashian (yes, I did), Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren and Sarah Jessica Parker. I wear perfumes based on what time of year it is (coconut and fruity smells for the summer and darker, woodier smells in the winter), and also depending on my mood. To me, perfume is the finishing touch on an outfit; it's that final "spritz" that ties the look together. And all day you feel great knowing you smell...well, great.
Besides perfume (and all things pretty), fashion and planning parties, I love spending time with my family and friends (and planning parties to do so, of course!) I love animals (except bats as I discovered last night during a barnhouse play), especially dogs and cats. My brother's kitty Annika will probably be included in an upcoming post. Although I am struggling eternally with my recent diagnosis and surgery, I still mostly think of myself as a happy, outgoing, kind person. (Or, I try to be anyway!) I want so badly to be optomistic about all this - because that's usually my style. But for now, I'll let myself have my "bad days" because I know myself well enough to know that I always bounce back. And if not, I'll just go shopping ;)
